Måneskin first made waves in 2017 after almost winning the X Factor in Italy. The foursome performs an eclectic mix of influences. Their music consists of hard rock, glam, and alternative, with hints of pop rock. They spent their early days busking in the Colli Portuensi District in Rome. But now, the band is regarded as the dark horse in hard rock, selling an estimated 40 million records worldwide.
In 2021, Måneskin joined the Eurovision Song Contest, and their entry, “Zitti e buoni,” won the grand prize. The song topped the U.K.’s Rock & Metal chart and also made waves on Billboard, peaking at numbers 7 and 8 on the World Digital Song Sales and Hot Hard Rock Songs. Apart from the U.S. and the U.K., the song charted in over 20 countries in Europe. But before winning the coveted Eurovision prize, Måneskin had been dominating the airwaves in their home country. Their 2017 EP, Chosen, served as the band’s phenomenal breakthrough. It debuted at number 3 on the Italian charts and peaked at numbers 2 and 14 on U.S. Billboard’s World Albums and Top Rock Albums. The following year, their debut album, Il ballo della vita, topped the Italian charts as well as entered the charts in 13 other countries.
This 2023, the band dropped their latest effort, Rush!, and received wide critical acclaim. The album, which spawned the singles “Mammamia,” “The Loneliest,” “Gossip,” and “Supermodel,” entered four Billboard charts. The album dominated the Top Alternative Albums and peaked at numbers 2 and 4 on the Top Hard Rock and Top Rock Albums charts.
