The Step Into the Sun Tour will be Slightly Stoopid's first solo headlinging tour to date and will have over twenty five dates across America, and the August 3rd date at Freedom Hill will be their first time at the venue.
The group, formed in 1994 in Southern California while founding members Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald were in high school - they had been friends since birth, and were making music with each other since they could pick up instruments. After a few lucky breaks and a show at FootHill Tavern in Long Beach, the group signed to Skunk Records before they even graduated 12th grade. Since their debut self-titled album, the band has taken a punk-infused, rock inspired, reggae-soul approach to all of their music. Filled with hazy strings, wailing vocals, and lyrics that feel so California.
They have toured extensively and for crowds in the hundreds of thousands, including playing at mega festivals like New Orleans Jazz Festival, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Coachella. They have sold out shows in all corners of the world - in places like Australia, Japan, The Dominican Republic, and Guam. They are the face of So-Cal Reggae music and California dreaming, which makes this Summer tour and the curation of their supporting act all the more special.
Joining the band will be the reggae pop group Iration, another Southern California group who takes a pop style approach to reggae and has carved an interesting lane of their own. After ten critically acclaimed albums and major success from their most recent project Daytrippin’, the group has been top of the US Reggae charts every time they have blessed the world with an album. They’ve played shows around the world, worked with contemporary legends like The Movement and Tropidelic, and even released their own IPA beer (rightfully given the name “Chill Out”). This is the group you want to see as you bask in the Michigan summer between all the trees and your favorite peeps - maybe, even with a “Chill Out” in hand.
Little Stranger is an eclectic and alternative hip hop duo whose sound hones in on soothing vocals, electric guitars, space-themed rhymes that hit you fast and hard, and on top of everything - comedy! The So-Cal vibes these guys bring are apparent, even though they were formed on the east coast. Add to that their bouncy beats and fun back vocals sprinkled in every song, and you’ll see why you wouldn’t want to miss this group at the beginning of the show. First time listener? I recommend checking out their songs Sunburn, Coffee & a Joint, All Her Favorite Songs, and Red Rover!
So - ready for the best party of the summer? Trying to figure out who you can bring with you? We were hoping for that! Come sway, come hang, and come ready to chill out. Tickets are on sale below and start at $56 - make sure to get yours today, right now!
